Jeremiah 7 – July 26, 2026

Open The Scriptures
Read Jeremiah 7:1-15 slowly. What do you notice?
1. In verse 3, what does God command the people to do, and how is that command repeated or emphasized in the passage?
2. What specific sins are named in verses 8–11, and where else in the Old Testament do you recognize similar commands?
3. Why does God point the people back to Shiloh in verses 12–14, and what point is He making by that example?
4. How does the phrase “the temple of the Lord” function in the passage? What are the people saying with that phrase, and how does God respond?

Open Your Lives
1. Where have you seen people rely more on a building, tradition, or label than on actual changed behavior, and what surprised you about the outcome?
2. Describe a time you told yourself “it’ll be fine” about a risky habit or choice. What were you feeling or thinking in that moment?
3. The sermon emphasized God’s grief over people abandoning him. How does imagining God as grieving rather than only angry change how you relate to repentance or asking for forgiveness?
4. What is one concrete, realistic step you could take this week to “amend your ways” so your actions better reflect your claim to follow Jesus?
