Text: Exodus 19-20

Theme: The 10 Commandments move us from “taking” to “giving”.

Why do we need the 10 commandments? How do they give us freedom?

Which of the 10 Commandments is hardest/easiest for you?

Ex. 20:3 says, “You shall have no other gods before me.” What does this mean?

Nate suggested, “You might have an idol if: (insert his list here)” What from this list convicts you the most and why?

What does it mean to “take the name of the Lord in vain”? Share an example of what this could like through actions, not just words.

Ex. 20:8 says, “Remember the Sabbath Day, to keep it holy.” What does this mean? What is the purpose of this command? How can you practice it?

Ex. 20:12 teaches us to “Honor your father and mother.” Regardless of whether this honor is deserved or undeserved, what could it look like for you to practice this (even if your parents are deceased)?

Reading through the whole passage again, what convicts you the most?
