Why does Simon the Pharisee have such a difficult time reconciling the devotion of the sinful woman with the way Jesus treats her? 3. In John 12, discuss the tension between Mary’s extravagant “waste” of the perfume on Jesus and Judas’ complaint that the money could have been given to the poor. Open your Lives 1. What keeps you from approaching Jesus with the same honesty and vulnerability as the sinful woman in Luke 7? (Ex: respectability, fear of judgment, self-protection, etc.)2. If someone looked at your calendar, spending, and attention this month, what would they conclude you value most? How does that line up with what you say you value? 3. What is something beautiful you can create or enact this week to demonstrate the beauty of God? |
