Mark 16:1-3 says the women brought spices and wondered who would roll the stone away. What does that detail reveal about the women’s expectations for Jesus after his death? 3. The angel asks, “Why do you seek the living among the dead?” (Luke 24:5). What does that question show about the difference between the women’s expectations and the reality of the resurrection? 4. In Matthew 28:9 Jesus calls his followers “brothers”; what does that title tell us about the relationship between Jesus and his disciples in these passages? Open Your Lives 1. What expectations do you usually bring to Easter services? 2. Where in your life are you more likely to go through religious routines without asking God for real change? 3. Describe a time God answered a prayer in an unexpected way and what that experience taught you about God’s work. 4. What specific step will you take this Lent to honestly confess or address one area of sin or need so you can better prepare to encounter the risen Jesus? |
