Open The Scriptures:
1. Read Psalm 119:1-16 – what sticks out to you the most from reading these beginning verses of the Psalm?
2. In Psalm 119, various terms are used to describe God’s word, such as commandments, statutes, precepts, and laws. How do each of these terms reveal a different aspect of God’s word and how it guides believers?
3. Reflect on Psalm 119:9-11, where it talks about keeping one’s way pure by guarding it according to God’s word. What does it mean to store God’s word in your heart and how does that protect against sin?
4. Psalm 119 talks a lot about delighting in God’s law. Discuss how seeing the Bible as more than just rules – but as God’s self-revelation and guide for life – changes your view of Scripture.
